Illegal Netting in Tramore.

Illegal Netting in Tramore.

Post by Sharky on Mon 26 Jan - 13:58

A confrontation ocurred today at 1pm ish between a well know local angler and a non national at the hole in the back strand. The non nat was removing Bass and flounder from a net at the hole and was approached by the local and instructed not to take the Bass. Two Bass of about 5 - 8 lbs were involved. The larger Bass was we think returned alive, the smaller Bass would appear to have been in the net a while and was dead. The net was removed from the water and was on the bank last I heard. The Bailiffs were contacted as well as the Tramore Guards. At this time I have no further update but the non nat went away without fish, we have his description and name. This was an extremely brave approach by the local angler to confront the non nat which may not always be the wises thing to do especially when the angler was alone, I commend him for his bravery. I am asking all anglers in Ireland to get the numbers of the local bailiffs and have them in your phone, its no good having to make a number of calls to other people to get a bailiffs mobile number.

it takes a brave man to confront the netters, my commend to his action and if most anglers have such atitude if they encounter one, there would surely be lesser nets on our shoreline for sure. Evil or Very Mad

poaching in back strand

Post by kingo on Tue 27 Jan - 0:38

hi ,frist of all fair play to ----- for approaching this guy and telling him where to go, i was digging in the back strand on monday when a bailiff came over and asked did i know of anywhere nets might be as they had got a phone call, I pointed out the gap to him and on his way out to it he found the net in the channel, way back in from the gap, he took the net from the channel pulled it accross the mud and back to the car pack by the white pole, he came from the dump side and two other came from the shrine road side, it good to see them trying so hard but while speaking to him he said that to catch these poacher in the act they need up to date info, he was really pissed that this guy had got away with it today, so he asked if any one see anything please contact the bailiffs straight away so they can catch them in the act and put a stop to the netting of the back strand.
also lads could you post the bailiffs numbers for those of us who don't have them
