Peeler Crab Traps

Post by griffinneil on Wed 25 May - 13:44

Hey guys,

Anyone know anything about making home made peeler crab traps or have a few internet links to how to make them woukd be great. cheers

Also wheres the best place to put them and how often to check on it. There starting to become a little expensive to keep buying the little guys every week.

cheers
Neil

Motor car tyres drill holes in top wall to let air out and stop them from floating away you could rope them together .
Well thats what I see some people have put down but I have none of my own

cheers for that,

so the crabs climb over the top of the type and get stuck inside- is that the idea ? Do people catch many this way- what would it be - four or five crabs a night?

no there not traps the crab come and go from the tyres you check them as often as you can . the crabs go into the tyres to find shelter when they moulting, but also hard crabs will use the tyres too.some times of the year there be more peelers then others.you place the tyre in soft mud and they will have to be staked down so they wond drift off.
