i went for a drive to kilfarrasy for a look and got talking to a chap fishing i asked if he had any luck and he showed me 3 Bass around the 8lb mark and told me in broken english he lives in kilmack and he comes over once a fortnight and always finds it good fishing
if not he gos to garrasus strand and gets a fish or 2

he showed me pics on his phone of a few smoothhound around 7-10lb mark he caught from the beach anyone had any thing like this

he was using crab tiped with white rag he told me where to dig the white rag but i am keeping it secret

fair play to him he seems to be getting good fishing ,but he is breaking the law with keeping 3 bass.there is a bag limit of 2 fish per sangler in 24 hours, also just a reminder there is a bass ban coming up in two weeks from 15th may to 15 june. white rag are not to hard to find but hard to get in any numbers.

most fish only die when deep hooked when there damaged by the person trying to remove the hook.if the line is cut as close to the mouth as can be the fish will be fine and will throw the hook soon enough hooks dont last long in the salt water.i know of plenty of fish caught with line coming out of its mouth.
and even if you dont mean it you will still get in trouble if seen with a bass in the ban.
