the 1st leg was yesterday and the weather and haveing the tide a bit wrong made it hard fishing.the the strong winds only left us one place in the river we could go and the fresh water in the river from al the rain ment the codling didnt show.fishing was very poor but we did manage a few flounders and some nice eels.well done to gerry walsh on winning the day and the pool for longest fish ,kevin ryan was close 2nd and myself 3rd and wally flynn 4th.
the next leg should fish a lot better as if the weather allows we are fishing down off woodstown there should be plenty of dabs ,flounder ,whiten, codling, dogs. have a few photos to follow.

the 2nd leg was today sun the 6th march out of dunmore .weather was not as good as it was ment to be but was ok .had a full boat with 9 anglers.we started on the drift for first hour and then anchored for a bit before going back on the drift.fish was poor prob due to east wind.over the day only two people landed fish alan walsh had a cod and a nice flounder(just under 2lb) and kevin ryan with a whiten .alan won the day and the pool and kevin was 2nd.
the results for the league are:
1st kevin ryan

2nd barry murphy

3rd wally flynn

4th alan walsh

5th gerry walsh

this is the first year we held the boat winter league and it didnt work out as we hoped but we learned and hope to run it again next year with better fishing.thanks to angus ritchie who helped us run this http://www.charterboats-uk.co.uk/stmichael/

Post by screeming reels on Mon Mar 07, 2011 12:05 am

Hi
Sorry to hear fishing was poor, seems to be the same all over unless you head well offshore to wrecks etc, but thats also hit or miss, prehaps hold the comps in dec /jan when it seems there is more cod in the river?
regards
