new rod..

Post by flounder king on Wed 9 Jun - 19:48

buying a new rod this weekend and was thinking of getting something longer like a greys triplex 16ft for the extra bit of distance. I also have a 14ft grauvell duplicate helical in mind which i know is a better rod but due to the fact that its 14ft is putting me off. Can anyone that uses a 14ft or 16ft rod give me any suggestions?

well not the best myself but the triplex is a lovely rod to use not sure of the other one but have a 15ft grauvell myself not as nice as the triplex i personally think.
as far as casting goes the rod does help but 99% is down to technique,so i would get the rod that you feel most comfortable with and get someone to go through casting technique with you.

Nial have a look at the Century Tip Tornado excellent rod for casting loads of power in it and brillent bite detection just another option to go for.

as barry said the triplex is a quality rod, you can use a multiplier on them and soft pendulum with a 4oz lead long distances with 3 baits or the fixed spool with an overhead cast will go good distance
