Fisheries Awareness Week
Fisheries Awareness Week 22nd to 30th May
We Want You!!!

Whether you’re a first time angler aged 1 to 100 or someone who has fished before but gave the sport up why don’t you come to any of our FAW events around the country. We have something for everyone even if angling is not your thing.

Come along to one of our many river walks or try your hand at fly tying or get a professional casting lesson, if you would like to try something different join us offshore for some deep sea angling or get on board a boat trip for a lake or estuary tour. If that sounds too much you can relax at one of the many family events run through out the week.

Best of all these events are free what more could you ask for?
TAKE A FRIEND FISHING

Throughout the week there are fishing events which have been organised in association with angling clubs. These are fun competitions where anyone can try their hand at angling. Events include sea angling, salmon, trout and coarse fishing at appropriate venues. So book a place and give something new a go.
CALLING ALL WALKERS

While enjoying all the feel good and health benefits of walking why not learn about all the wonders of nature along the way. Join us on any of the river walks and listen to experts in the field of birds, insects and of course fish as they talk about your local river.
BOAT TRIPS

During the week there will be a variety of boat based activities from tours to charter fishing. Why not come on board a chartered boat for a fun day out for all the family or take a trip on Lough Gill, Moy Estuary or Lough Corrib to see the devastating effects Lagarosiphon major is having in the area.
FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY AT THE FISHERIES OPEN DAY

Bring all the family along to our open days at various locations nationally to enjoy face painting, bbq, fly tying and casting demonstrations and a walk through fisheries past and present.
CATCH A MEMORY PHOTO COMPETITION

Calling all budding photographers to enter the “Catch a Memory Photo Competition”. During Fisheries Awareness Week take a picture of your favourite event, activity or something of interest and send it to us to win a spectacular prize.
OTHER EVENTS

Have you got an idea for an event? Let us know since fisheries awareness happens all year around and we would be happy to assist where possible.
