Megamouths in Pasage(how to catch 2000lb megamouth from shore)

Post by bass buster on Wed Feb 03, 2010 12:17 am

Last Friday,Me and Joey headd out to Pasage on our rocket ,We were going for a few Megamouths buh we knew it was still a bit to eurly in the year for them so wornt to hopful, tackel used was a pennel rig with 2000lb mono ,60/0 hooks (120/0 or 100/0 ok too) ,1000lb braid on abu 7000,where we fished it was very deep 200-300 foot deep,Tides were good,so we didnt need grip leads,We had a great selection of bait including pigs leg, white rag, cod, and a few ducks which were pritty hard to keep to the bottom as they had a tendency to fly off Shocked
We set up the gear,we were an hour in to fishing when Joey got his first bite, after 40mins of fighting the megamouth came in,it waz only a baby Wink ,we fished on well into the night, only geting the odd flounder time to time,we lost all hope untill my rod almost got pulled onto the silty water, when i set the hook i knew it was a monster Very Happy ,after playing the fish for about a 2 hours it bagan to tyre, luckly we borrowd bobbys gaff or other wise we would hav been in big trouble, with a last efort from the two of us we landed it,it waz well over 2000lb What a Face ,i took pics buh there was no flash on the camra Crying or Very sad we put him back for another day Wink ,we fished on,it was geting bright an Joey got two smoothhounds What a Face noting more after that.
All in all was a great day out,if anyone is interested goin for a nite session just let me no Cool
