The End of the Line, the documentary film revealing the impact of overfishing.

Post by AC on Mon Mar 08, 2010 12:26 am

The End of the Line, the documentary film revealing the impact of overfishing was shown on Channel 4 last night this is the most alarming films to anyone with an interest in the planet not mind sea angling. You can see the film on utube some of the dubbing is off but you still get all the information.

88% of all assessed fish stocks are estimated to be
> over-exploited
> • One third of assessed fish stocks are beyond ‘safe biological
> limits’
> • The blue-fin tuna is on the verge of being listed as an
> endangered species
> • 93% of North Sea cod are caught before they can reproduce
> • The EU is no longer capable of providing fish for its own people
> so its fishing fleets are over-exploiting seas around poor countries
> with the cooperation of corrupt local governments. This includes the
> Irish factory-trawler ‘Atlantic Dawn’ based in Killybegs but operating
> off the coast of west Africa
This list is an extract from an e mail sent to me by a friend, who recieved it from the Irish Wild Iife Trust tell him about the showing of this film.
